Aulds began in 1900, when Thomas Auld opened Auld & Anderson’s Caledonian Tea and Dining Rooms in Greenock. On the menu: a bowl of soup and three rolls for two old pence. From those humble beginnings, a Scottish baking institution was born.

Now in our fifth generation of family ownership,
Aulds remains true to Thomas’ founding principles of craft, quality, and care, while evolving into a modern, ambitious business at the heart of Scotland.

Craft

At Aulds, craft is at the heart of everything we bake, shaped by generations of skill
and tradition.

Quality

Commitment to quality means our bakes are made to be enjoyed,
just as they always
have been.

Care

We take real care in every step, from time-honoured recipes to the way each product is finished by hand.

From one to many

Through the decades we’ve grown from a single tearoom into a group that includes nine Aulds shops, over 100 partner counters, and more than 200 stockists. Alongside our sister company, Aulds Delicious Desserts, we now supply handcrafted fresh bakery products, savouries, and frozen desserts to the foodservice industry across the UK.

Built on tradition,
Baking the future

From early innovation in frozen desserts to leading the way with our bakery counter model, Aulds has always adapted to the times while staying rooted in our craft.
Today, under the leadership of Alan Marr and the arrival of Lewis Marr, the fifth generation, we’re reimagining what modern baking can be, investing in improved facilities, new products, and a bold rebrand that carries our legacy into the future.
125 years on, tradition and innovation rise together.
